my photo

sea and boulders in high contrast ...

I came across this quote, and thought it would sit nicely alongside this photo, taken on Lancing beach this summer.

The loneliness you get by the sea is personal and alive - it doesn't subdue you and make you feel abject - it's stimulating loneliness: Anna Morrow Lindbergh.

Can you imagine yourself sitting alone on this rock?

When the tide is on its way out, of course!

I could imagine sitting on that rock and feeling so insignificant with the vast ocean in front of me! x

There is something special about sitting watching the sea and the waves, I agree. Love your photo x

Oh, I like the look of those waves. I don't know about loneliness, but watching waves swirl and crash tends to lull my mind to a quiet place.

I'm luck enough to live next to the ocean, so am often found sitting on a rock re-zoning myself.
Just popped by for the first time. Love your vintage little girls.

What a lovely thought to be sitting on a rock by the sea. I love walking along the beach at low tide looking for shells or pretty stones. Jane x

Fantastic photo! I can't imagine myself sitting on the rocks though. (Not even with the tide on it's way out!) I am basically a scaredy cat. I can imagine myself sitting on a bench looking at the rocks however. (Every picture tells a story. A different story for everyone!)

I love being by the sea, I find it calming and my thoughts are able to be free somehow. Maybe it's the vastness that allows my own mind to expand. My knitting might get wet on that rock though!

Beautiful photo Louise! I always try and go for a walk alone along the coast whenever we go to the sea, there's nothing quite like sitting on a rock, hearing the lapping of the waves and the big blue in front of you to clear your head and give you space to think.

I love watching the sea crash against rocks too, but we don't get to do it often enough! Great photo!

It actually reminds me of a suicide for some reason, as if it is drawing you in.
