flowers for Mum ...

We took flowers for Mum up to the crematorium yesterday - a lovely small Spring bouquet with narcissi, tulips, iris and gerbera.

I usually like to take a pot of bulbs as they last longer, but nothing suitable to pick up Saturday after work.

As we were walking up the hill to her plot, we expected this pheasant to fly away.

But instead it started to walk towards us, and started pecking around right in front of our feet!

It was so funny to watch, and so tame?

Maybe someone is feeding him up for Christmas!

Then thinking I wonder if the resident cat's around, looking to my left there it is walking over towards us.

It's a lovely black 'n white cat, who I get to see on most visits.

I know he's being (well) fed, as I've seen a cat loving couple giving him cat crunchies!

We always come up early, to take photos and have a little look around.

At this time of year there are thousands of daffodils in bloom, and many trees in blossom.

The weather was misty first thing with sunshine eventually breaking through.

The cat was liking the sunshine too, and lots of attention!

who you lookin' at ...

I'm never short of company in the garden.

Here's me thinking nosy neighbour cat was a tom, and it turns up wearing a pink collar!

Nosy neighbour cat was quite happy to sit in my composting area at the top of the garden.

One minute it was watching me, the next minute the Robin.

I fear that little bird is on borrowed time!

a ginger cat, and a giveaway win ...

This cat isn't our cat, we don't have a cat. Cats just love spending time in our garden, from dusk 'til dawn. With undergrowth to explore and hide, birds and frogs to stalk, and butterflies and moths to tease.

This ginger cat has a very bushy tail and trots, just like a fox. It reminds me of Gizmo, who belongs to a blog pal Simone, at Linden Grove.

It shares the garden with a black cat, who I call Lucky, whose favourite spot is sitting on top of pots in the late afternoon sunshine and who spends early morning hours asleep, curled up in the flower border.

When this pair meet, they really don't get on, and I'm often witness to a hissy fit.

Simone recently had a giveaway, the prize being a set of handmade cards. Lucky me, I won!

Where does your cat like to hangout?

I found these lovely tags in the parcel too! Thanks Simone.

isn't she lovely ...

I know many of you in blogland love cats, as it happens so do I. This sweet tabby cat came to befriend us whilst we were sitting in the picnic area of a very special house and gardens in East Sussex. I think perhaps a case of cupboard love, as it was after morsels of my pork pie! More about our visit here in a future post.

After this stop we travelled on into the beautiful Kent countryside to stay one night at Elvey Farm in Pluckley. Remember The Darling Buds of May, many scenes were filmed in and around the village. Pop Larkin in the pub, and the church where Mariette and Charley got married.

This is our very comfortable room, a converted farm outbuilding. Well I say comfortable, I couldn't get on with the rolltop bath, and I am only five foot two!

This was the view from our room of idyllic Kent countryside and buildings. Perfick!
