hairy bakers in the den ...

People ask me how I find the time to blog, the answer is simple, these days I am watching less and less TV! I haven't completely switched off, there are two programmes on a Monday evening which I really would like to see.

The Hairy Bikers are back, as the Hairy Bakers (BBC2 at 8.30). Dave and Simon are setting off with bikes, on a journey around the UK, to explore our love of bread, cakes, pastries and pies. If you missed it and are interested in any of the recipes, you could whizz through it on BBC iPlayer.

On last night's programme they focused on breadmaking. First baking white rolls for bacon and sausage butties and a fermented wholemeal loaf for eating with their generous to say the least, version of a Ploughmans lunch! Also being baked was Indian Naan bread served with vegetable curry, which they so effortlessly ate through an attack of the midges! Finally returning to Dave's kitchen, to bake a cheese and ale loaf, perfect for dunking into a thick white onion soup. All this, and visiting and talking to great artisans along the way.

TV on BBC2 doesn't have to finish at 9.00, you could stay up and watch the Dragons Den. The programme in which inventors and wannabe entrepreneurs get the opportunity to flog their wares, or themselves in front of the dragons, five mega earners in the world of business and commerce in the UK. The contestants use their powers of persuasion to receive from the dragons, in return for a percentage share of their business, a much needed injection of cash to fuel their ambitions.

So far in this series there have been some good, and not so good ideas of how to make, or even lose money!

I must start watching The Hairy Bikers. I love the sound of cheese and ale loaf. As for the Dragon's Den, I am addicted to that. I would be terrified of doing a presentation in front of them though!

Hi Louise,
I haven't seen either program. It seems I watch less and less TV too.

I am watching less and less TV also, partly due to the fact that I am so tired in the evening from sewing and knitting that I keep nodding off!

One of these days I will make it through a whole movie...I hope!

Hi Louise, there really isn't that much on TV worth watching is there? I love Dragon's Den and must try and catch the Hairy Bikers. We sat at Rottingdean beach on Saturday and on top of the Downs at Glynde on Sunday watching those airplanes at Eastbourne

Hi Louise!

I've been watching less TV too. I have been watching the Olympics, though, so that along with summer activities has cut into my blogging writing reading time a little.

These shows both sound interesting -- especially the hairy bakers who I hope wear hair nets when they arekneadingt heir bread ...lol!

Due to circumstances I'm watching lots of TV this week. I was looking forward to the hairy ones when a friend called so I just caught a few fleeting moments and the food looked pretty good to me!!! So will haev to watch a repeat.
I love the interaction between the Dragons and the occasional Peter Jones sulky moment!

We don't get those programs there, and like so many others, we rarely watch regular tv anymore - but we love Netflix, and it's possible both of these will be available on there eventually! Now I'm hungry for fresh bread - I've been wanting to bake some hearty whole wheat, but my son is putting flooring in the kitchen today, so I can't bake - or complain!

That sounds like a fun show! I think our American entertainment industry gets a lot of their ideas from your country, so...maybe I'll be patient.
I only watch Criminal Minds, Grey's Anatomy, and Madmen. Oh, sometimes House Hunters.

Hello
I don't watch much telly these days either. Apart from my daily diet of CBeebies when Twiglet is in charge of the TV of course:) I love the Hairy Bikers though and record Dragons Den, forget to watch it then have to have a mammoth TV session catching up. Love to watch Gardeners World when I remember too, hmm what does my telly viewing say about me I wonder?
big fellas, food, flowers and dragons and a bit of Pingu, yes that about sums it all up :)

I'm not watching as much t.v - problem is I'm blogging too much. I do love The Hairy Bikers though and Dave makes me laugh when he goes into a swoon over Saint Delia. Anyway, I've got an award for you over on my blog. Tracey.

I completely agree. I also watch less TV. I loved Desparate Housewives, but that vanished because of Big Brother and I am glad that the tudors has started a new series. I would rather blog and be given lovely awards! (Still smiling over that you now!!)
