Just being ME

Please say hello ... I love comments!

once a chore, always a chore ...

I like this vintage photo, a man ironing! I know some do, but I've never seen one!

The results of my poll are in, and a big thank you to the record number of people who left a vote, wow 51 in total!

It is official, 78% of you said, you do not like ironing, which includes me. More surprisingly though, 21% of you, have said you like ironing! If the poll hadn't finished before the 1st of April, I would have thought you were all having me on, as an April fool!

See 7 ironing mistakes and how to avoid them. I am sure all of you who love ironing will know these golden rules already?

Talking of loving ironing, my mum did, she would have great pleasure in doing so. I couldn't ever understand it, and I would always joke about taking mine round to her place, and she would always say to do so, of course I never did. I am sure she never ever wanted her ironing pile to come to an end, she would even resort to ironing socks and pants, have you ever heard of such a thing!

My mum would iron anything given the opportunity! Unfortunately none of this rubbed off on me, the only good thing about ironing is when it's over!!!

The more I have to do it the more I hate it!!

On the other hand I enjoy getting the iron out for my sewing - it's laundry that gets me down!!

I don't like wrinkles so ironing is a must. What is worse is ironing and having a hot flash! OMG!

Socks no.. but pants yes!! I must confess to ironing pants..
I was going to have a re-think on my poll vote as I have just spent a very contented half an hour ironing and listening to the radio.. though this isn't normally the case. I love ironing squares.ie pillowcases and hankies but not shirts.. too many corners!

None of our clothes need ironing, thankfully. My iron got the most use when I was quilting. These days it has a layer of dust on it!!!

I hate, loathe and detest ironing!
I will do anything to avoid it.
When I met my hubby it was the one thing I said that I would not do for anyone !!
Any other housework is fine by me..ironing is yuck ;-)

I prefer ironing to other house work. Yes, and I iron everything but socks!I think it's a control thing, the rest of the house is a muddle but I am the only one who does the ironing...everything neat and tidy??

I confess, I'm one of the weird ones who enjoys ironing. Perhaps it is because I live in Florida,we don't wear much that can wrinkle easily because of the humidity. So I don't have to iron all that often or much. My Mom, on the other hand, hated ironing with a passion. She said if she couldn't sleep, she'd tell herself, "Well, you might as well get up and do the ironing," and that would put her right to sleep!

Hi, I'm actually one of those unfortunate people who can tolerate ironing (wouldn't claim to love it) especially if I'm listening to radio 4 and have a cup of coffee to hand. My ironong board is out constantly as I keep needing to press things as I sew. At least it's in the spare room.

Louise, you do have great ideas for your blog! I have wonderful memories of coming home from school and seeing my mom ironing and smelling the starch! My granny did iron lots too; even her cotten sheets. :) For you and I though, it can be a drudge.
P.S. My husband does all of his own ironing.

I don't mind ironing -- I listen to the radio while I do it and the chore seems to go quickly enough. My husband has ironed a shirt for himself when in need, and my son does all the ironing in his house as his wife dislikes doing it. My daughter uses a steam machine instead of an iron with great results. Thanks for the ironing tips web site ;-)

If my sweetie wants something ironed, he either has to do it himself or take it to the cleaners to be pressed. I don't do ironing. For the most part, neither does he. Its a rarity for both of us.

While I do find it odd anyone would enjoy ironing to the point of pants and socks, I can kind of see how it might feel fulfilling to watch all of the little wrinkles disappear and be replaced with smoothness.

Can't wait to reat the 7 mistakes. :)

My Mum loves ironong too, she says she gets a sense of acheivement from seeing it all nicely folded on the clothes horse.

I say to her 'Get a Life'!

I hate it I udes to pay a friend £7 an hour to do mine whilst I had a proper job! If I'm feeling flush now I still take it round for her as she gets right to the bottom of the pile and uncovers things that have been there for months!

I have a guy who irons. when I used to work ..in dental offices... the girls would sometimes even laugh and say, Greg did the ironing? You could always tell....the seams were so perfect my sleeves almost stuck out at angles...
Now I don't wear uniforms anymore...and I buy things that don't need ironing... except for the occasional, and I don't mind doing those. Specially now that I am home and have more time for everything.

oh... and Louise...yep...the bunny will definitely be finished long before next Easter..... cheeky monkey!

Hi Louise, I missed your poll but I'm not surprised by the results, I don't like ironing either, except pretty vintage fabrics, then I love it! Luckily for me Mr. Bloom is very particular about how things are ironed and does his own.

Gawd I HATE ironing, only thing I miss about working full time was we used to use an ironing service, it was super ace. I'm very slapdash with my ironing too and my tops usually look worse after I've been at them. Life's too short to have perfectly ironed clothes.

I don't like ironing either, so I always have the TV on while I'm doing it - usually This Morning. I hate washing windows even more though!

Hi Louise, have awarded you a Blogging with a Purpose award. Please come over to my blog and read about it.

My grandma would iron everything, it was nice. I like newly ironed bed sheets and hankies. I'm afraid I don't do any, only if I'm making curtains.

Just had to share, I found an Extreme Ironing Bureau! Just Google "Extreme Ironing" and see what comes up! Their motto is "Welcome to the home of extreme ironing - the latest danger sport that combines the thrills of an extreme outdoor activity with the satisfaction of a well pressed shirt." My favorite is the underwater one!
