my first gift tag ...

Well some of you did say you couldn't wait to see what creations I was going to come up with using the tags I won. Well wait no longer, this is the first one!

I have wanted to make tags for ages, as I use a lot of plain paper for wrapping presents, and have always thought how nice it would be to personalise each present. On April 23rd, it is my step-dad in law George's birthday. So what better, than to print off an image marking St George, as it is St Georges Day! By happy accident, I ended up with this rather lovely green image, instead of an exact colour replica, maybe something to do with having very little black ink left in my printer cartridge! So now his obligatory socks, which are St George by Duffer from Debenhams, are wrapped up in lovely plain gold (brown paper) style wrapping, finished off with this rather neat little tag. I have no crafting materials, so I had to improvise with the very few little bit 'n bobs which I have squirrelled away from the past, hoping to put to good use some day?

Look, a lovely pair of pinking shears! I bought these about a month ago, I have always wanted a pair, and today I actually took them out of their packaging. I am going to have great fun with these, I can tell you!

The green image looks really good and it is nice to make something so personalised. I love pinking shears too. What will you 'pink' next?!!!

A beautiful colour Louise, it looks perfect with the image. I love my pinking shears, have fun with yours. I'm sure the tag is going to look beautiful with its gold gift. A weekend of tag making for you is it?

We LOVE PG Tips! Hubby and I have a gourmet shop here, and as our town has many British expats, we have a large selection of British goods at the shop. (Our town is "twinned" with Budleigh Salterton.) =)

Oh Louise, you do have great ideas! How clever. Let us know what your step-dad thinks. Whenever I see pinking shears I think of my other granny, born 1900; She used pinking shears for just about everything.

Hi Louise
Your tag came out very nice! I like the image on it.

I have Fiskars scissors with a rippled edge like yours. They are fun to use on a lot of things!

Have a happy weekend!

Now go steady with those scissors Louise.. I know the temptation is to 'pink' everything in sight!

Lovely to see your creation and I am sure it will be very much appreciated..

What an unusual tag...I think the green colour is probably more effective than it would be in black and white. Funny you should say about using old wrappings, cus I've just mentioned that on our blog today...great minds think alike!

Ooh I love pinking shears. My mum gave me some a couple of years ago (the first ones I've owned) and for several months, everything was pinked!

You've created a really cute tag, I am sure that step Dad in law will appreciate it.

Hi Louise, lovely tag, hope we'll see more of your creations now. I know what you mean about dealers and burger vans at the car boots, fortunately we don't have too many at our local ones.
Have a lovely week,

What a perfect tag for a George! Are your pinking shears any good for fabric? I have tried various pairs but haven't found a pair that works well as yet.
