my photos

all that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel mother - abraham lincoln ...

I have quite a few photographs of my Mum, and I often look through her wedding photos. I have always thought she looked so lovely on her wedding day. Her two-piece outfit was Jackie O style, and she wore the most fantastic gold stillettos, which I remember she kept for a long time, although I don't know what happened to them?

I love Mabel Lucie Attwell and Mum started me on the road to my growing collection. This very pretty little girl above is showing how I feel about my Mum no longer being around. Infact the little girl could have been me, with those chubby legs!

Lily of the Valley for my Mum, she loved its flower and scent. It is 6 years today since I lost my wonderful Mum to cancer, a day I would very much like to forget, but a Mum I would very much like to remember.

Such a beautiful post Louise. Your Mum looks very lovely and I'm glad you have such precious memories of her.

I lost my Mum just over 10 months ago to a brain tumour and still feel thoroughly shocked that she's no longer here. It is so hard when you lose someone so close and so wonderful but they made us what we are and we will always carry them in our hearts.
Take care of yourself today and I hope it is not too hard for you.

love Lesley xxx ((((HUGS))))

What a beautiful photo Louise, and such lovely words. I truly appreciate how lucky I am to have my Mum still with me. Thanks so much for your comment on my blog - it's wonderful to get such nice feedback. And as for the leaves - they don't break down - we still have some from last year sitting happily in the garden!

What a lovely and thoughtful post Louise, the photo of your mum is lovely. Our mums are always our best friends aren't they? I remember when my lovely dad died 6 years ago, someone said to me, even though he isn't here, here's still in here, while she pointed at her heart. That's a lovely way of thinking of it I think. Even though your mum is sadly not here, she'll always be part of you.

What a lovely post about your Mom, Louise! She looks beautiful in the photo. My Mom is my dearest friend and I'm so fortunate that she's still with me. I can only imagine how much you miss her. Lily of the valley is one of my favourite flowers too.

Lynda

My mother loved Morny's "Lily of the Valley" talc. Also freesisa - though she wasn't a keen gardener.
My grandmother loved anemones and stocks.
Isn't it odd that we remember these things for ever?
Have a peaceful weekend.

Louise, this is such a sweet post and tribute to your loving mother. It must be so very sad for you to have this day come each year. Just know that she is smiling down on you.

I thought about you yesterday when I saw an Atwell picture at an anitque shop. It was very sweet..I passed it up..not enough change in my pocket..but it was wonderful.

hugs to you,
Becky

A sad day for you, I can't even begin to imagine not having my mum (who is now 82). Lily of the Valley is such a pretty flower, so delicate and the scent is beautiful. Thinking of you.

so sorry to think of you losing my Mum, but lovely that you remember her so well and with such affection.
I remember my Mum kept all her old embroidery threads in a Mabel Lucie Atwell tin and I loved it so much. I always used to ask her why wasn't my names spelt Lucie instead of Lucy, I was desperate to change it!!
