jam ...

My poll for April was to get some idea of your favourite jam, the results are in and there is a tie between apricot and raspberry both receiving 25 votes each. Apricot would have got my vote, so apricot wins! Strawberry came in third with 17 votes and other received 12 votes. Of course there are many fruity flavours of jam, but I couldn't include them all in the list!

I am a lover of packaging and I have always bought Hartleys jam for the shape of the jar! You don't get so much for your money but who cares. The flavour I have just finished is gooseberry which is a definite favourite of mine, I have a jar of pineapple on the go, and an unopened jar of damson.

I am not a great lover of strawberry or raspberry jam, but both are nice used in a Victoria Sandwich, along with buttercream.

This is how I eat my jam, on two slices of toast every morning! I really like it on brown thick sliced sunflower seed loaf, both Sainsburys and Somerfield do a good one.

I love orange marmalade, followed by grape, and then blackberry jam.

Do you like Marmite, Louise? I've always wanted to try it, and if I ever visit England that will be the first new thing that I would try, just to see what it tastes like.

Oh yes!.. apricot got my vote and your breakfast looks just like mine! Good to see you like butter as much as me too :O)
My grandmother used to make the best runny apricot jam without big lumps of apricot which I try to avoid and she used to put some pinapple in as well.. it was superb!
I like your jar and would also pick it out from others! I'm not sure what the damson is you mentioned..but my 2nd choice would probably be wildberry {blueberry, blackberry and raspberry together}

I voted for apricot jam too! I have never tried pineapple jam but I think I may have to give that a go. I am surprised that strawberry didn't come out tops!

Now there's a funny thing Louise.. I have just consumed two slices of seeded brown toast with a thick layer of Hartley's Raspberry jam..
I should be loyal to Chivers jam being a Chivers by name!!
My dear late father.. learnt to make superb crab apple jelly and damson jam at the age of 84.. It never is too late!

With love

I like strawberry & I buy the Bonne Maman variety (because I like the jars & the taste). I make strawberry & blackberry jam in the summer. Fig jam is delicious too. I'm a sucker for packaging as well - P says that I'll buy anything if it's in a tin!

Isn't it funny how product packing can totally influence our decision to buy one product over another? I will also occasionally choose to buy one product over the other just because of packing. The picture of toast makes me want to figure out which cabinet I put my toaster in and make a few slices myself. :)

Damson and gooseberry jams are my favourite jams too. Love them on buttered toast but don't like jam tarts etc.

I confess, my favorite is strawberry. My grandmother used to make some really good grape, though, from grapes she grew herself. She also made quince jelly (very similar in taste to apple), which was my husband's favorite.

Our household would throughly agree with the poll ;-) Hurrah for Apricot jam!

Mmm, that IS a nice jar.

My husband and I eat so much Marmite that he made me a spice rack using Marmite jars as the spice jars once upon a time (with 52 jars). The Hartley's jar looks like a pretty good candidate for that as well (open-mouthed, smooth shape).

I just finished making strawberry jam for the kids. They are nuts about it. I like the foamy skim you get when cooling it down myself. It's like some kind of foamy custard.

Sounds very Yummy.
It is funny you mention the package! I too am tempted my packaging...silly me.
I must confess I am supposed to be cutting down on carbs! last night I thoroughly enjoyed a big slice of crusty bread with lots of butter and M&S Raspberry Jam...gorgeous, I am sure that I slept all the better for it!
