Just being ME

Please say hello ... I love comments!

it's amazin' what raisins can do ...

Remember the advert from the 1970s for the chocolate bar below.

Amazin' Raisin bar - (cockney pie and mash type song) "Its amazin' what raisins can do/All that goodness and its all fo' you/You just 'ave ta do what ya gotta do/It's amazin' what raisins can dooooooooo... Oi!". A Cadbury concoction of raisins and chewy stuff and rum!

Anyway I am getting a bit side-tracked here, which is nothing unusual. What I was going to start off this post by saying, is that you can't beat the sun shining through the windows to get you motivated. Yesterday was such a glum day and I had no incentive to do much at all, but today, well it's a different story altogether. Already I have commented on some blogs, done the housework, baked a cake and made this delicious flapjack in the photo above. After I have had a quick coffee break, written this post and eaten the piece of the flapjack that is missing from the photo, I am going to get out and attack the garden!

The flapjack is made using Dorset Cereals fruity porridge. Him indoors rarely shops, usually only when he needs emergency supplies for his fishing expeditions, but the other day he came back with three boxes of this stuff, purely because the Co-op had marked it down to half price! I don't like it as porridge with milk but he has a bowlful every day before he leaves for work. Even so it will take quite a time to get through this lot, so I thought I would help out, by making something in the way of naughty.

Well he does need help in eating it before it goes past its sell by date!

I don't remember the ad but I kind of remember the song! I love dorset cereals and have the light flakes for breakfast. I would like to try making flapjacks with the porridge one.

Hi Louise!
I'm finally back from our trip to Ireland! It was fabulous except that the American dollar was worth nothing over there these days. :-( It's not worth much in Sterling either, as we found out in Northern Ireland. But we had a great time, and managed to do all we wanted to do.
I loved Irish porridge and brought back a bag. The hotel served it with lavender honey ... so delicious!
This chocolate raisen bar looks so yummy! I could devour a few right now! :-)

Oh, absolutely, we've gotta help out in any way we can, right? Even if it means eating sweets...and it's nice to see the sunshine even has you singing!

Thanks for the idea, on such a dreary dull afternoon, I got into the kitchen and baked some flapjack with a few berries from the freezer tossed in - scrumptious!
I feel all cozy and warm now.

Oh Yummy ! I do like my daily porridge but these delicious flapjacks look like a very pleasant alternative.
Of course oats are healthy aren't they? Even smothered in butter and sugar.. surely!

I love breakfast; especially a sweet kind of breakfast. It seems like a super way to start the day.

Quite intriguing ~ trouble is flapjacks are pancakes over here, so have no idea what you've made, because it doesn't look like a pancake at all...LOL Anyway, good idea to make some yummies :)

I hope the sun lasted longer there than it did here! Mr Ragged Roses is a big fan of Dorset Cereals and I am a bigger fan of flapjacks!! Have a good, sunny weekend

Thanks for your quilt comments, I've got the top of one started with the applique ironed on but nothing sewn yet. Flapjacks are just lovely, thanks for doing the tag in your previous post

I'd completely forgotten amazin raisin bars - they were really nice. No-one remembers Aztec bars except me, is it my imagination? Sorry if any of the spelling/punctuation is worse than usual - I've just got back from holiday and drunk three glasses of wine in quick succession!

Hi Louise, I think I'd love that porridge, I get Dorset Cereals Muesli and mix it into my porridge, I didn't know they did a ready-made one. Those fruit bars look pretty yummy too!
Hope you have a good week,
