more friends and a belly dancer ...
Last night I met up with the girls to celebrate my friend Fiona's birthday. As well as us two, the usual suspects being Jackie R, Jackie P, Helene, Lynn and Val.
Fiona chose to go to Istanbul, a Turkish restaurant along Worthing seafront, which turned out to be a very good choice. The decor has a real spicy Turkish feel and the food is of a high standard. For the price of a meal you get a belly dancer thrown in! You cannot dispute the value for money here.
The belly dancer was really very good and was dodging the waiters to keep the dance going. The hip scarf was being passed around but only Jackie P, Helene and Val were brave enough to accept it and get up and have a go. Jackie P being absolutely hilarious after a drink or two! There was a hen party too, so you can imagine the scene, and also couples with their partners of whom couldn't keep their eyes off the dancer!
The belly dance in Turkish is called Oryantal Dansi which means the dance of the East. Click on Turkish Belly Dance to discover more of the tradition.

It means you have a rejoicing Saturday night!
Good Sunday!
Glad you had a fantastic time! Belly dancing looks fun but I'm quite shy to dare, hehe.
I've always fancied belly dancing. But I bet I wouldn't have the nerve to do it without drinking half a bottle of red first!
Sounded really good fun. Wish I was there, just to wath mind you my belly dancing skills arenot for public viewing, little rubbish I think. Best wishes.
Sounds like you had a lovely time.. maybe I should get Milo a chefs hat!

What a great night! I'd pass on the belly dancing though.... I have a wee bit too much to wobble. :o) I'd have someones eye out!
Sounds like such a good time! I used to take belly dancing lessons for the exercise. It's very hard. I lost a lot of weight. Wouldn't try it now though. I would probably throw out a hip LOL
Hello Louise, for a minute there I thought you'd gone and posted a photo of yourself!! I love turkish food. Belly dancing always reminds me of the film "Barefoot in the Park" have you seen it? Sounds like you had a good time

I remember a similar evening - only the boys couldn't wait to get up and shake it with the belly dancer!
I'd be alright with belly dancing as long as I didn't have to show my belly!!!
how fun is that!! A little shimmy is good for every one!

That sounds fantastic. Those pictures make me want to get out and run a marathon until MY belly looks that good though. *sigh* Plus, I LOVE Indian food. I can imagine how splendid the night was for you.
NOW, that is one show I want to see, belly dancing..wow...so sexy right?
happy week ahead my friend :)
I fancy wearing the costumes way more than I fancy doing the actual dancing.
Sounds like a great night out Louise! Not sure I'd have the courage to get up and shake my bits either!
xx

I love Turkish food but doubt you'd ever get me to perform!
Oh i know my hubby and son would really enjoy that.
Gosh, sounds fun but I don't think I'd like to put my belly on show...wouldn't look like those in your pictures that's for sure!
