l s lowry ...
I admire the works of L S Lowry.
The other day I discovered a great collection of The Medici Society greetings cards in WH Smith, and brought A Country Road and At the Seaside home with me, with the idea of framing.
I am torn between living in the country ...
... or by the sea.

My mum is a huge Lowry fan.
I always loved going to see Lowry's work when I used to regularly visit the Tate Gallery, years ago.
I love 'The Street Fight!
;-)
Oh the Sea every time, I'm too far away from it for my liking! Jane x
I've never seen that seaside painting before - wonderful! I love letting my eyes wander over each of the figures in his work.
I love Lowry too, but being a Yorkshire girl love David Hockney even more. I live in the countryside now but hanker after living by the sea, I'll get there one day.

I love the two Lowry's on your blog, together with all the other contributions
Spooky that you should have an Orange Tip butterfly in the sidebar as I have only recently seen one in my garden and I can't remember the time before that
The DOAEL is one of my favourite books, thanks for pointing me in the direction of that blog
As our farm 'and Arnie keeps tellin' of
I'll be back
Hi Louise,
Dreaming about which to choose is the best part....
Love Kristina XxX
I know what you mean
The countryside and the seaside both have their attractions
With these Lowry pics though I think I like the bottom one more, because it has lots of Lowry people in it.
In this instance I would choose the country - less people about!

Hello Louise
Why not be a devil and frame them both lol
They are both worthy of being framed and set where they can be seen by you and anyone else who visits your home;
Take care
Cathy
Beautiful paintings!
I'm also divided between country and seaside.
Hi Louise,
If i win the lottery one of these fine old weeks i shall but you a house in the country and a house by the sea and that way you can flit between the two as and when it pleases you, love those pictures.
Its good to be back an i am planning on staying i have lots to post and a lot of reading back to do.
Hope the sun is shining on you and your loved ones
Love and Kisses Kristina XxX
I would frame both of them. I would have the country picture up in the winter and the seaside one up in the summer time!
Hi Louise
A happy May day weekend to you x hello to Birdie too x

I have been obsessed with the seaside and all things connected, this week..It is one of the themes I am displaying at the fair.. It would be wonderful to have a Lowry painting like this on my stall!

P.s The word verification is bagrat.. is it trying to tell me something?
Beautiful art work.
hmmm...that would be a hard choice for me.
I love to see the ocean, but I don't like to be in the water. And I really like the quietness of the country.
Kimberly :)
these are lovely ... i especially like the top one. i remember doing a lowrie type city picture as a child...
it is such a dilemma. both country and sea beckon. have a fabulous week, louise!
How about in the country by the sea?
I like the Lowry prints very much, when I was little we had a Lowry print of the factory gates, hanging in our school room. I am guessing it was a print but it was the fifties in Lancashire so maybe not?
These pictures are sweet! As for the country or the sea, I like each one best when I am there...
I love both pictures but the sea one is my favorite, I love living by the sea.

I love Lowry's paintings - there are a few in the art gallery at our local museum that I pop to have a look at when I go in there but a couple of years ago we visited The Lowry in Salford and saw a lot of his works plus an exhibition about his life - it was a wonderful display - I have a little brooch from there of a 'stick man' that lives permanently on the lapel of one of my jackets.
Love country and seaside so would have both side by side to get the best of both worlds:)
Hi Louise,
The Country is my favourite, love the colours and where that road may take me.

I'd love a spot by the sea ... but with nobody else around.... a beach of my very own...or even high crags.... I'm sure I'd be the perfect lighthouse keeper...
